Blogging - What is it, where is it going

This Blog is my first Blog. I am a student interested in how Blogging is being used in teaching and learning now and how this medium is likely to evolve in the future. There is no doubt in my mind that at a time of such massive technological advancement, this kind of communication will dominate. Any thoughts out there ?
